Paths to autonomy

After Us
Since 2021, Casa Santa Rosa, together with the Municipality of Rome and Terra d’Orto, has launched three co-living initiatives within the “After Us” project: Casa Aurelia, Casa Rosa, and a third home included in the same pathway. These are spaces designed to offer young adults the opportunity to live independently and responsibly, in line with Law 112/2016.
Today, Casa Aurelia, located in the Casal Lumbroso area and made possible thanks to a donation from the Sala family, welcomes four young people who are building their own independent life project. On weekends, it also hosts the “A Bridge Towards Autonomy” programme, an experience that allows other young people to try themselves out and gradually strengthen the skills needed to live away from their family.

Job placement
Guanellian pedagogy stems from the direct experience of Don Guanella, who as early as 1900 recognized the educational value of work, adapted to each person’s abilities. In his Homes, he created small workshops and placements in agricultural colonies so that each person could feel useful, capable, and an active part of society.
Today, after the training pathway at Casa Santa Rosa, some people begin work experiences as a natural continuation of their journey of growth and inclusion. These work pathways are accompanied and supported by Casa professionals, ensuring gradual progression, quality, and genuine social inclusion.

Social agriculture
Casa Santa Rosa is located in the Appian Way Park, surrounded by a large green area largely dedicated to agriculture. Here, the social farm of the Terra d’Orto Association was also created, where activities such as urban and rehabilitative gardens, sensory pathways, vegetable cultivation, and olive oil production take place. Alongside the gardens, there are also small animal farming activities, including beehives, donkeys, and chickens.
These spaces become places of experience for the people of Casa Santa Rosa and for young people from other educational pathways. The agricultural environment fosters well-being, personal growth, and practical, hands-on learning in a simple and meaningful way.
