Innovation

Publications & Open Science
Casa Santa Rosa promotes the sharing and enhancement of research through Zenodo, an open-access digital archive managed by CERN and an international reference point for the preservation and dissemination of scientific results.
As a Rehabilitation Center, Casa Santa Rosa has a dedicated space on Zenodo, which gathers its publications and research contributions, made stably accessible and citable over time thanks to the assignment of DOIs.
This choice reflects the Center’s commitment to open and shared research, supporting innovation in rehabilitation and training pathways.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Casa Santa Rosa invests in the development of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and Assistive Technologies to provide alternative and personalized communication tools for people with disabilities, including adults. Since 2018, we have been engaged in research, training, and clinical experimentation to integrate new methodologies into the rehabilitation pathway, promoting access to communication and more effective relationships across different services (residential, semi-residential, and outpatient).
The projects developed have led to the creation of the Assistive Technology Center and the development of innovative tools, thanks to national and international scientific collaborations.

Sensory approach
The sensory approach of Casa Santa Rosa is a pathway designed to connect with individuals who have severe communication difficulties and to accompany them in an experience of overall well-being through targeted sensory stimulation and carefully designed environments. Each space is structured to foster self-awareness, relaxation, and the development of individual potential, respecting each person’s timing, needs, and abilities.
It unfolds across different environments, including spaces outside the House, which allow work on perception, movement, emotions, and interaction with the environment. Each space can be accessed in a guided and personalized way, creating a pathway that integrates care and support.

Emotional development
Casa Santa Rosa, within the NEED Network and in collaboration with the C.R.E.A. of Florence and EAMHID, promotes the dissemination of the emotional development model proposed by Anton Došen and other scholars, fostering a holistic approach to the care of adults with intellectual disabilities, in full respect of their rights and dignity.
The House contributes to the scientific development of the model through participation in conferences, research projects, and specialized translations for the professional community. This work strengthens a more human, aware, and evidence-based rehabilitative approach.
